Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Films and Artists for Its 49th Edition
From showcasing 10 films for this year’s festival to the usual eight entries, the expanded lineup has paved the way for more films to showcase their stories at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this year. And in celebration of this year’s successful festival, MMFF awarded and recognized artists and filmmakers for their outstanding performances.
In the recently concluded “49th MMFF Gabi ng Parangal,” the historical film “Gomburza” received the most awards, taking home a total of seven trophies, including lead actor Cedric Juan receiving the Best Actor and film director Pepe Diokno bagging the Best Director this year.
Vilma Santos remains legendary with her Best Actress award for “When I Met You In Tokyo,” tying with “Mallari,” with both films receiving four awards.
Meanwhile, GMA’s fantasy film “Firefly” won this year’s Best Picture and Best Screenplay awards, along with the Best Child Performer award for Euwann Mikaell.
