The fair’s 11th edition, to be held from Feb. 16-18, brings together the best of modern and contemporary art from the Philippines and beyond in a grand event for art lovers and noobs alike.

From paintings and photographs to film and digital art, get ready to witness a vast display of art across a car park-turned-gallery. Just in case you’re still contemplating about going, here’s a rundown of things to look forward to from Art Fair PH 2024!

10 Days of Art

Ushering in the event is “10 Days of Art,” happening from Feb. 9-18 in various venues in Manila. Over at the fountain area of Ayala Tower One, trans-disciplinary visual artist Derek Tumala will present his “A Warm Orange-Colored Liquid” exhibition, featuring his artistic research at the Manila Observatory.

Meanwhile, motion graphics artist Isaiah Cacnio will present a video projection show titled “Prismatic Embrace" by the Green Wall, Tower 2 at the Ayala Triangle Gardens. There will also be private shows in different galleries across the city, such as the Art Cube Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, and the Ateneo Art Gallery, among others. Exhibitors

This year, art lovers are in for a treat at Art Fair PH! Featuring art installations, paintings, photographs, book launches, and more, various art galleries and collectives will take you on a wonderful journey of contemporary art. This includes the Philippines’ Art Cube Gallery, Art Lounge Manila, and Istorya Studios, among others.

They will also be joined by international art collectives and galleries, including Japan’s SHUKADO+GALLERY SCENA, South Korea’s The Columns Gallery, Kuala Lumpur’s Artemis Art, Taiwan’s Yiri Arts, and many more!

ArtFairPH/Digital, Film, and Photos

Art Fair 2024 is also highlighting other facets of art, including digital arts, film, and photography. The fair will feature digital art incubator Daata and Filipino Web3 collective CryptoArt PH, which will shine a light on the world of metaverse, NFTs, blockchain technology, and everything digital.

Meanwhile, the photo section will have a single exhibitor, FotomotoPH. This leg will present a collection of Philippine contemporary photography curated by one of its founders, Sandra Palomar.

Over at the film side, the fair will hold “No Showing,” a platform curated by writer and cinephile Moira Lang for filmmakers and filmgoers to share their insights and knowledge about the film industry.

Special Projects

Aside from the exhibitors mentioned, Art Fair 2024 will also hold special commissioned exhibitions via ArtFairPH/Projects. This includes “Pambabae,” a special exhibit that aims to highlight Filipina women modernists’ contributions to the craft. Some of the artists to be featured here are Evelyn Collantes, Phyllis Zaballero, Ivi Avellana Cosio, and Nelfa Querubin, among others.

This leg will also feature multi-disciplinary artist David White from Brooklyn, also known as Mr. Starcity, with his “One Pedal at a Time” exhibit, Filipino artist Jigger Cruz’s “Dialectic Disruptions,” and Australia-based artist Taloi Havini’s “Dengung Hyena,” among others. Residencies

Since 2021, Art Fair Philippines has been awarding financial support to residency programs in the country, courtesy of the locally produced rum brand Don Papa Rum. Some of the talks you can take part in are Ambeth Ocampo’s “History from Archival Photographs” discussion, “Habitation and Creative Practice” by Don Papa Rum’s residency beneficiaries, and “Empower or Empire” by Daata’s director, David Gryn.
