As BTS' Jin nears the end of his mandatory military service in South Korea, fans around the world are eagerly anticipating his return to the limelight. Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, enlisted in December 2022; marking the start of his year-and-a-half hiatus from music.
Despite his absence, his influence remains strong among K-Pop enthusiasts, evident from his unforgettable performances and spontaneous acts that showcase his fun-loving personality. As ARMYs eagerly await his comeback, we’re looking back at some of his most memorable moments on and off stage and what his upcoming plans and projects may entail.
Live Debut of 'The Astronaut' with Coldplay
One of Jin’s standout moments was the live debut of his solo single “The Astronaut” with Coldplay in Buenos Aires, just hours after the track’s release. Co-written by Jin and Coldplay, the song served as a heartfelt farewell before his enlistment. The performance was dubbed by fans as a “proper goodbye.” Coldplay's Chris Martin revealed during the concert that Jin personally called him to collaborate on the song.
Performing with a Hand Cast at the GRAMMYs
At the 2022 GRAMMY Awards, Jin exemplified professionalism and dedication when he performed at the show even with an injury. Sporting a black hand cast to match BTS' "Butter" secret agent concept, Jin still delivered exceptional vocals and dance work that left ARMYs in awe.
Mr. Worldwide Handsome
Jin’s self-confidence and humor have always been a highlight for fans. Often referring to himself as "Worldwide Handsome," Jin playfully embraces his good looks. Despite being an introvert, his moments of self-praise and engaging interactions have become iconic, revealing a lighter, more relatable side to the superstar.
