Summer Metro Manila Film Festival to Formally Roll Out on April 2
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced the formal launch of the summer edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), the country’s biggest awards show for local movies.
The inaugural event, the Parade of Stars, where the cast of the films ride a pagoda through the streets in front of adoring fans, will take place in Quezon City on April 2. The parade will kick off at Villa Beatriz and go on until the floats reach the Quezon Memorial Circle, finishing a five-kilometer journey, with the main event taking place at Liwasang Aurora. The main route of the parade will go through Commonwealth Avenue.
The MMDA will deploy 780 of its own personnel to oversee the parade, and the local government will provide 1,202 people to support the agency’s efforts and ensure that the event goes smoothly.
As part of the MMFF efforts, eight local films will be made available to the public, including “About Us But Not About Us,” a Jun Robles Lana-helmed film that won the Best Film in the Critics’ Pick Competition in the Talinn Film Festival. Below is the rest of the movies that round up the list:
- “Apag”
- “Singlebells”
- “Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko”
- “Unravel: A Swiss Side Love Story”
- “Here Comes The Groom”
- “Yung Libro Sa Napanuod Ko”
- “Love You Long Time”
