HDB: Over 6,000 Flats Up for Sale in May BTO, SBF Exercises

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) has launched 6,535 flats for sale last May 27 under the May 2022 Build-To-Order (BTO) and Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) exercises, with 4,538 BTO flats spread across five projects, namely in Bukit Merah, Queenstown, Toa Payoh, Jurong West, and Yishun. About 1,952 units in various towns and estates are also up for sale.

The HDB said in a press release on the same day that most of the BTO flats are in mature estates. It recommended home buyers to consider projects in Jurong West and Yishun, both of which are non-mature estates.

"[A]pplication rates generally tend to be lower, and they also come with some of the shortest waiting times among all the projects launched in the May 2022 BTO exercise, at 3.8 years or less," it said of the two estates.

A wide variety of flats are offered in the BTO exercise, such as two-room flexi to five-room flats for first-timers, second-timer families, seniors, and singles. Balance flats under the SBF exercise comprise two-room flexi, three-room, four-room, 3Gen, and executive flats. Majority of these flats are reserved for first-timer families.

Those interested to purchase flats under the May 2022 BTO and SBF exercises can submit their online applications on HDB InfoWeb until June 2. Applicants can only apply for one flat type in one town under either exercise.
