Scream for Ice Cream: Van Leeuwen Opens First Shop in Singapore
Cool news, ice cream lovers! Brooklyn-based ice cream brand Van Leeuwen has opened its first shop in Singapore. The store at Orchard Central is the brand’s first venture outside the United States, making it a milestone move for Van Leeuwen.
The well-loved ice cream brand traces its roots back to 2008, when they sold ice cream out of a yellow truck that plied the streets of New York City. Brothers Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen and a third partner, Laura ONeill, started Van Leeuwen "with a mission to make good ice cream that makes you feel good."
And you will indeed feel good after a scoop or two. The ice cream, referred to as French ice cream because of the amount of egg yolks used, is made from scratch at the brand’s factory in Brooklyn. They also have vegan options made using natural ingredients and without artificial thickeners or emulsifiers.
As the Singapore shop opens, visitors can expect a variety of flavours and other cool treats that have earned the brand a cult following. Some of the must-tries are Malted Cookie Dough Shake, Vanilla Bean, and Sicilian Pistachio. Meanwhile, vegans can avail themselves of scoops of Vegan Chocolate Cookie Dough Honeycomb and Vegan Oat Milk Brown Sugar Chunk.
If you’re not up for a cone or cup of ice cream just yet, you can also try the available milkshakes and root beer floats. Don’t miss out and check out Van Leeuwen Singapore with your friends and loved ones. For more information on the ice cream's ingredients and flavours, visit Van Leeuwen’s website.
