A steaming bowl of ramen makes for a hearty lunch or a filling meal at the end of a long day. In Singapore, where you can find a variety of cuisines, ramen has become a popular dish because it’s available with different broth bases and toppings. You can even customise the texture of the noodles to your liking.

From casual ramen stalls to upscale yet inviting restaurants, you can find different establishments offering authentic ramen in Singapore. Whether you’re in need of a quick noodle fix or you’re ready to wait in line just to taste a ramen prepared by a Japanese chef, you’re in for authentic flavours that will satisfy your taste buds when you visit the ramen joints below:

Bari-Uma Ramen

Bari-Uma, which translates to “super tasty,” hails from Hiroshima, Japan, and can be found in different countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Macau, and Malaysia, among others. Bari-Uma Singapore has received numerous commendations in the city-state – especially for the excellent service you can count on and the excellent dishes you can sample every visit.

Make sure you order the Ajitama-Uma, made with rich pork-flavoured shoyu soup, thick-cut grilled chasu, and flavoured egg. Not a big fan of pork? You can try the Tori Ajitama-Uma which comes with chicken-flavoured soup, two grilled chicken breasts, and a flavoured egg. The bowls of ramen can be paired with a serving of Gyoza or Karaage. You also have the option of adding extra toppings like corn, nori (seaweed), menma (seasoned bamboo shoots), and negi (green onions).

ENISHI

ENISHI received a Michelin Bib Gourmand award in Kobe, Japan, and now that it has opened in Singapore, you have a chance to taste its award-winning dishes without flying out. The shop takes pride in its Michelin-worthy menu featuring only two dishes – the Japanese Dashi Noodle, a clear-broth ramen with yuzu and smoked duck and chashu slices; and the Dan Dan Noodle, which features minced pork, shredded chashu, diced white onions, and mizuna.

Fun fact: The restaurant only serves 100 bowls a day to manage the Japanese ingredients they use, so if you plan to visit, make sure you go early to be one of the lucky few to have a taste of their dishes on that day.

Ramen Dining Keisuke Tokyo

Ramen Dining Keisuke Tokyo may have been established only in 2023, but long lines indicate that it has gained a throng of regular customers in Singapore. Here, the tonkotsu ramen reigns supreme and you have options when ordering – from Red Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen to Black Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. You can also order a bowl that comes with flavoured egg. Looking for something different? Ramen Dining Keisuke also has Lobster Broth Ramen, Tokyo Shoyu Ramen (Soya Base Chicken Stock), and Niboshi Ramen (Japanese Dried Fish Stock). The Ramen Stall

Visit The Ramen Stall for an authentic and memorable Halal Japanese dining experience where you can savour authentic Japanese cuisine prepared with fresh ingredients. The ramen broth used is done by boiling the meat and bones for 30 hours so customers can taste the rich and smooth texture with every sip of the soup.

You can never go wrong with the Chicken Cha Shu Ramen, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you may want to try the Volcano Ramen (available in three levels of spiciness), the Beef Ramen, or the Vegetable Ramen (prepared with special soy chicken broth). Sushi, sashimi, and appetizers like Fresh Seaweed Salad, Okonomiyaki, and Deep-Fried Salmon Skin are also available to level up your meal.

Marutama Ramen

Up for a creamy broth experience? Make your way to Marutama Ramen, and you won’t be disappointed. Marutama is committed to a “no MSG” ramen experience so you can slurp and bite into those noodles without worrying about additives. Aside from making their own noodles using flour from Japan, the restaurant also takes pride in its thick, collagen-rich chicken soup made by using a special pressure cooker that extracts the flavour of the chicken.

For your first visit, don’t miss the popular Marutama Ramen served with seasoned boiled egg or level it up with Char Siu Marutama Ramen, which is a bowl of Marutama Ramen with four slices of char siu. Feel like treating yourself? Go all out with the Zenbu Nosé Ramen, a filling bowl with all the special toppings that are also available in spicy soup.

Ramen-ya

When it comes to dining, you can never miss a hidden gem, which is exactly what Ramen-ya is. Try searching for it online, and you won’t even see an official social media page. The compact shop is run by a Japanese chef who masterfully prepares each bowl of ramen served.

For your visit, don’t miss the Special Shio Ramen, which is a highly popular choice among diners, as well as the Special Tonkotsu Red with its richer flavours. Word of advice: Since the shop can only seat around seven to eight people at a time, expect long queues when you drop by. According to regulars, lines can get long as early as 11 in the morning, so plan your visit ahead and make sure you’re ready to wait in line.

Location: Ramen-ya, 430 Upper Changi Road, #01-03 East, Singapore

AFURI Ramen + Dumpling

AFURI makes its signature ramen with yuzu, which, according to them, adds freshness to the dish while complementing the broth and grilled pork. Yuzu, a small yellow citrus fruit, is splashed on the chicken broth and used as a garnish, adding delicateness to each bowl of AFURI ramen.

The food menu is divided into three categories: Ramen Combo, Dumplings, and Ramen. For the ramen, take your pick between the Yuzu Shio, Yuzu-Tsuyu, or the Yuzu Shoyu. There are also seven options when it comes to Gyoza, but it’s the Winged Buta Gyoza that makes for a perfect complement to a bowl of ramen. Complete your meal with a serving of Tofu Donuts, which come with yuzu curd, blueberry compote, or ginger honey.
