Most young adults today experienced building something out of those iconic plastic construction bricks known as Lego. But for those who did not, here is your chance to recapture your childhood with the opening of the largest Lego store in Southeast Asia! Even those who enjoyed stacking these bricks together will surely have a blast from the past at this new Singapore landmark.
Unveiled on June 25, the latest Lego Certified Store is located in Sentosa, just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Universal Studios globe. It spans 3,165 square feet, making it the largest Lego store in Southeast Asia. It is an addition to the 10 existing Lego Certified Stores in Singapore and is larger than the 2,088-square-foot store at Suntec City.
The new store reprised the old Bricks World LEGO Certified Store Sentosa outlet, which was shut down last year. The brand-new outlet now boasts an expanded space and more items to choose from.
Visitors will be greeted by an “I ♥ SG” sign at the entrance along with the bricks-inspired façade dominated by the yellow hue. Here’s a trivia: the heart sign and the Lion dancer Minifigure beside it were made of 70,950 bricks. Do not miss snapping a photo or two before entering the store!
Lego-inspired Merlion
One of the main highlights of this outlet is the Lego-inspired Merlion Minifigure, which measures 1.4 meters in height. The statue is set against a backdrop of other Singaporean landmarks in 3D, such as the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Flyer, and Sentosa Monorail.
Another sight to behold is the collection of 990 Minifigures mounted on the wall, including 30 twin Minifigures and a Lego world map at the center.
For Lego fans who need to find a specific brick, the largest Lego store in Southeast Asia is offering a giant Pick A Brick wall, where you can choose from more than 128 Lego bricks to complete your construction.
Mosaic Wall
You can also find a gigantic mosaic wall that features a boat cruising the Singapore river, with the Cavanagh Bridge and Fullerton Hotel in the background. This artwork, titled “Quay Colors,” was made by full-time Singaporean Lego artist Nicholas Foo. At first glance, the piece looked like a watercolor-based painting, but a closer glance would reveal that the entire masterpiece was entirely made of bricks—all 103,680 of them!
Speaking of mosaic, the largest Lego store in Southeast Asia features a permanent mosaic maker booth, the first of its kind in Asia-Pacific. This feature lets you create a mosaic out of your photos using Lego bricks, with prices starting at S$179.90.
The Lego Certified Store at Resorts World Sentosa is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM.
