STB: Travellers in Singapore Hotels to Recover in Rooms by Default If They Test Positive for COVID-19
From Dec. 20, travellers staying in Singapore hotels who test positive for COVID-19 on a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or an antigen rapid test (ART), or are identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 case should recover or isolate in their hotel rooms, according to the Singapore Tourism Board on Dec. 16.
Travellers must inform hotel staff of their test results.
They will be given an Isolation Order (IO) to remain in their room for 10 days, if they are fully vaccinated, or 14 days if they are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. They will then be automatically discharged without further required tests after.
Guests who have a place of residence in Singapore and want to recover or isolate at home must seek their hotel's assistance to make arrangements with the Ministry of Health to ferry them to their accommodation. They are not allowed to make their own transport arrangements.
Meanwhile, those whose accommodations are not suitable for isolation, those who have other medical or social conditions which pose a higher health risk, or those who are severely ill do not have to recover in their hotels and shall be transferred to a care facility or hospital.
The revised protocols for travellers will closely align with the protocols for local community cases. For more information, go here.
