Experience a compelling theatrical journey with Scenes from the Climate Era, showing from July 18 to 20, 2025, at the Esplanade Theatre Studio. This Esplanade Commission, written by acclaimed Australian playwright David Finnigan, is a timely meditation on climate change, blending art and science in a whirlwind of poignant vignettes.
Directed by Ellison Tan, the Singapore edition of this play has been adapted to reflect the cultural and emotional nuances of the region. Audiences will witness a stream of short, sharp scenes—a couple debating parenthood in a climate-crisis world, scientists attempting to rebuild coral reefs, a team building seawalls in Antarctica, and a lonely frog searching for a mate. Moving between comedy, absurdity, and emotional realism, the play condenses global concerns into human-scale stories that hit close to home.
Performed by a diverse, multigenerational cast, Scenes from the Climate Era is part of 60 Connections – At Home and Afar, celebrating S60 through homegrown narratives and international collaborations. Tickets start at S$32, so don’t miss this powerful reflection on the most urgent issue of our time.
