Thailand Named 4th Friendliest Country, Bangkok 4th Best City in the World — Condé Nast Traveller

Condé Nast Traveller released the winners of its 2022 Readers' Choice Awards on Tuesday, as voted by thousands of readers all over the world.

Winners fell under various categories like best hotels, resorts, cities, countries, airlines, cruise lines, train journeys, tour operators, destination spas, and more.

Thailand was named among the friendliest countries from all four corners of the globe, placing 4th in the rankings. According to Condé Nast Traveller, Thailand "is a country of contrast, taking visitors from streets where you can barely move for people, tuk tuks and street food vendors to sprawling spa resorts that feel all but deserted." It also highlighted the country's swanky hotels and striking temples in Chiang Mai.

The French Polynesia was voted as the most welcoming destination in the world, followed by Colombia, New Zealand, Thailand, Costa Rica, Botswana, Peru, Belize, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, also made it to the top 10 best cities in the world category of the Readers' Choice Awards.

A longtime favourite of "gap-year backpackers," Bangkok was voted the fourth best city in the world with a score of 89.36.

San Miguel de Allende in Mexico took the top spot with a score of 92.94, followed by Singapore (89.49); Victoria, Canada (89.46), Bangkok; San Sebastián, Spain (89.15); Tokyo, Japan (88.32); Mérida, Mexico (88.30); Québec City, Canada (88.29); Cape Town, South Africa (88.27); and Mumbai, India (88.27).
