Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra Earns First Professional Victory at LIV Golf Bangkok

Top amateur and recently turned professional golfer Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra defeated nine-time winner American pro golfer Patrick Reed by three strokes at the LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok.

“Chacarra’s 54-hole total of 19 under is the lowest winning score in LIV Golf’s inaugural season, and his 3-stroke victory over Patrick Reed ties for the widest winning margin established in the previous event by Cameron Smith in Chicago,” according to a report via LIV Golf yesterday.

The 22-year-old golfer earned US$4 million for his solo victory and an additional US$750,000 for his share of his Fireballs GC team’s achievement.

Chacarra said that he felt great after gaining his first win in a professional tournament.

“I don't think there's a lot of secret. Just trusting yourself and working hard every day. That's what they teach me when I was young and what these guys tell me you need to do, and trusting your team, having a good team, and just work and work I would say,” Chacarra was quoted as saying.

The leaderboard at the final round on Sunday showed Reed finished in second place with a score of 67, followed by English golfer Paul Casey (65) on the third spot.

The LIV Golf Bangkok Invitational was held last Oct. 7-9 at the new private golf course, Stonehill Golf Course, which is built on 40-acres in the Pathum Thani province.
