Bangkok's Bar Us is turning its Drinking Room into a showcase of Indonesian cocktail culture on Sept. 7, 2026, bringing in Jakarta's Carrots and Ubud's Ambar.

These bars are joining forces for the first edition of Drinking Cross. Bar Us' Drinking Cross series is designed to bring in cocktail cultures from other countries, and this is just the start.

Running from 8 PM to 11 PM, the one-night takeover will bring together playful cocktails, Indonesian flavors, and stories to the Thai capital. Foodies Jakarta's Jed Doble will also join the evening event, sharing stories about Indonesia's food and drinking scene.

Ranking No. 21 in Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, Carrots is one of Jakarta's top cocktail bars, tucked into the basement and boasting an intimate, 14-seat setting. Their philosophy is an even mix of experimentation with their concoctions and a focus on hospitality. Led by mixologist Anthony Luis, their cocktails draw on "personal experiences, cultural references, and an enduring love for food, drinks, and people." Their signature menu, "I Drink Therefore I Am," is a playful reference to Descartes.

Ambar, meaning "sky" in Sanskrit, offers a more botanical take on the rich flavors of the island of Bali. Located beside Mandapa's Wantilan lobby in Ubud, the elevated bar is surrounded by lush greenery and features an outdoor wooden deck that reflects the flavors of their cocktails — all of which are inspired by Taru Pramana, an ancient Balinese manuscript revealing the healing benefits of plants and more.

The takeover fits neatly with Bar Us' own approach to drinks. Rather than a conventional approach, their menu moves through three sections: Starter, Main, and After. Guests can choose cocktails in any order, as each drink tells its own story, reflecting the uniqueness of Bar Us with each sip.

Bar Us is ranked No. 15 on the World's 50 Best Bars 2025 list and No. 6 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026. They were also named Ketel One Sustainable Bar for 2026.
