Japan's cult-favorite bookstore-meets-lifestyle destination is officially landing in Thailand.
Tsutaya Bookstore will open its first Thailand location at One Bangkok on Oct. 20, 2026, marking the Japanese brand's latest expansion in Asia. The new branch will be located at The Storeys, One Bangkok's urban lifestyle zone, and will be launched in partnership with Asia Books, Thailand's largest English-language bookstore chain and distribution company.
For Bangkok bookworms, the arrival brings another reason to linger at the central Bangkok development.
Tsutaya Bookstore is operated internationally by Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., or CCC, whose retail concept centers on "creating opportunities to discover culture and lifestyles through books."
The companies said the partnership aims to create a new bookstore culture in Thailand. As Japanese pop culture and lifestyle continue to grow stronger in Thailand, from anime and manga to Japanese retail brands, the Tsutaya opening marks another opportunity to connect the two cultures.
Founded in 1969, Asia Books specializes in imported English-language books and magazines. They currently operate more than 80 branches nationwide.
Tsutaya already has a presence in other parts of Asia, including China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Cambodia.
For now, what the Bangkok Tsutaya branch will offer and look like remains under wraps. Fortunately, curious book lovers won't have to wait too long. Tsutaya Bookstore One Bangkok is set to open on Oct. 20, 2026. Mark your calendars!
