Thailand Will Export 700,000 Tons of Fresh Durian to China This Year
Thailand has announced plans to export 700,000 tons of “fresh durian” to China, which would result in THB100 million in revenue for the country, as per government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri.
The Ministry of Agriculture said Thai fruits are “highly popular” in China, particularly durians. The fruits set to be delivered to China will come from this year’s harvest season in Thailand’s eastern region.
Anucha said the demand for durians can be attributed to the teamwork between state and private entities, who are all involved in regulating their production and ensuring the fruits meet the highest standards of quality.
The Thai government said they are ready to support locally produced products and services that have the potential to flourish in the Chinese market.
According to Anucha, the ministry will ensure that Thai products meet global standards to build trust and enhance their success in the international scene.
