In this article, we will explore the history and key features of this famous landmark, and find out how to get there.

History and Architecture

King Power Mahanakhon, also known as Mahanakhon, was designed by German architect Ole Scheeren and developed by PACE Development Corporation PLC. It was officially completed and opened to the public in 2016. With its unique and distinctive design, the skyscraper stands at an impressive height of 314 metres (1,030 feet) and consists of 78 floors, making it the tallest building in Thailand (2016-2018). One of the most striking features of King Power Mahanakhon is its unconventional design. The structure boasts a cuboidal shape with a pixelated spiral that gradually rotates as it ascends, giving the building a sense of dynamism and depth. This captivating architecture has earned several prestigious awards, including the Best Mixed-Used Development Award in 2015, recognising its innovation and artistic excellence.

Observation Decks and Sky Bars

One of the main attractions for visitors is the stunning observation decks, offering panoramic views of Bangkok's sprawling cityscape. The indoor observation deck, located on the 74th floor, provides an air-conditioned environment, allowing visitors to enjoy the view in comfort. For those seeking a more exhilarating experience, the outdoor skywalk on the 78th floor is a must-visit. With a glass floor that extends beyond the building's edge, daring visitors can literally walk on air while taking in the breathtaking scenery beneath their feet.
