Gov't Set to Vet Application for Pfizer Omicron Vax
The government reported on Sunday that it had received an application from COVID-19 vaccine producers Pfizer BioNTech to approve a second-generation booster vaccine targeting Omicron sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5, according to a news article from RTHK on the same day.
The process for vetting the vaccine is set to be passed onto the Health Department’s expert panel on vaccines.
Health authorities are reported to be coordinating with the manufacturer to arrange for the delivery of the new-generation vaccines to Hong Kong before winter, as officials called on the public to get their full dosage of COVID-19 vaccines to offer full protection.
