CHP Investigates Upper Respiratory Tract Infection Outbreak at Nursery
The Department of Health's Centre for Health Protection began its investigation into an outbreak of upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) at a Tin Shui Wai nursery on Dec. 2.
The outbreak, according to a government press release on the same day, concerns 18 boys and 12 girls aged between two and five years old, and two staff members. Fifteen of the affected pupils have sought medical attention; none were hospitalized and all are in stable condition.
The nursery has since been placed under medical surveillance and will be included in the compulsory testing notice on Dec. 2 as the symptoms of URTI are like those of COVID-19. Teaching activities will also be suspended for at least five days for cleaning and implementation of the compulsory testing notice.
