Point-to-Point Travel for Inbound Visitors Enhanced

The Hong Kong Government announced on Sept. 14 via press release that the arrangement of point-to-point transport to bring travelers from the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to designated quarantine hotels (DQHs) will be enhanced starting Sept. 15.

The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) has carried out improvements at waiting areas and rearranged boarding locations to facilitate the boarding of inbound persons.

These changes have been made to reduce long wait times at the airport.

Advisories in Chinese and English will be used at appropriate locations of the arrival hall to direct inbound travelers to the waiting areas of designated transport services and self-paid taxi services. This new arrangement includes electronic display panels at the arrival hall that shows the number of taxis at the pick-up point, allowing inbound travelers to stay informed of the real-time availability of their point-to-point transportation options.

The government noted that the DQH taxi fleet has been running smoothly since its launch in July. As of Sept. 13, the fleet had transported more than 29,000 inbound persons from the HKIA to DQHs. These fleets are dedicated to inbound persons and will not pick up other passengers as reflected by the updated design by the Transport and Logistics Bureau (TLB) for easier identification by the public.

In addition to the DHQ taxi fleet, the TBL has requested anti-epidemic designated fleets to affix Government Anti-COVID Measure labels, as well as the fleet-specific labels for public identification.

“The relevant policy bureau and departments will continue to closely monitor the operation of various anti-epidemic point-to-point transport services and make timely adjustments with regard to the actual situation and demand,” a government spokesperson said.
