Penny's Bay Quarantine Center Open to Domestic Helpers from Sep. 20, 2021
Domestic helpers arriving from overseas to Hong Kong will be allowed to undergo their mandatory quarantine at Penny’s Bay camp on Lantau Island from Sep. 20, 2021 onwards.
Bookings open up a week in advance as Chief Executive Carrie Lam said on Sep. 7 press conference that the daily rate of the 800 rooms provided will not exceed HK$500 a night.
Jointly in the press conference, Chief Secretary John Lee Ka-chiu is due to make a visit to the camp in the next week and will announce finer details of the plan shortly.
The government-run facility will be working with authorities from the Department of Health to set up a computer booking system for domestic helpers to make their room bookings.
Recent news of the government allowing fully-vaccinated domestic helpers from the Philippines and Indonesia to enter Hong Kong and undergo quarantine equally boosts todays welcoming news for OFW’s returning.
