1. Wheel of Good Fortune

Set against the picturesque area at the Central Harbourfront space, AIA presents a Lunar New Year themed carnival to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Rabbit. The “Wheel of Good Fortune” spins in auspicious red and towers over a festival ground bedecked in brilliant lights. Fun for the whole family, or on a day out with your group of best mates, the carnival will offer plenty of Chinese zodiac-themed photo spots, tons of adorable plush toys and cool prizes at their classic game stalls, and even live performances up on stage.

Admissions come combined with tokens to trade for a turn at rides and games! Beginning with single entries for adults at HK$128 with 10 tokens, a couple’s combo for two with 20 tokens, and family combos with varying group sizes and token count. 2. Throw Me a Lifeline

Sometimes when the going gets rough, the power of sounds, music, and open-hearted conversation makes for a great source of healing. Hosted by the locally based Musicians Foundation, a group dedicated to supporting professional musicians with financial help, join DJ and label founder Craig Lopez, musician and singer Johnny Lau, and Love and Sexuality Coach Linda Moana on a mental health awareness field day.

Sit in on insights from Craig and Johnny, then jump in a relaxing Taoist healing sound practice hosted by Linda. A short networking session for all eventgoers, and a performance by Johnny will follow. For a seat at the roundtable, click here to reserve your tickets.

3. Ready, Set, Drag

Start your year right with some sparks from the boldest, the funniest, and the most magnificent drag performers in the city. On the line up are a diverse cast embodying all types of beauty and backgrounds. Enjoy the show as performers Matthew Creed, Lilo May, Trash Queen Doris, Boy Bawang, Uncle Apollo, Gin Pan, Guy Action, Aisha Qumshot, and Evanescence light up the stage back-to-back with jam packed fun and thrills.

4. Blame it on TEK-NOH

The pumping, pulsating 120-150BPM rhythm of techno music is something else to listen to and experience. This Saturday night at The Code, the [point] crew are joined behind the decks by Romain FX, one of Hong Kong’s most prolific electronic artists who has played the stages of Wonderfruit, Mihn club, and has an appearance on Boiler Room during the 2019 Shi Fu Miz Festival under his belt. 5. Night at the M+ ‘seum

Step into the weekend with a renewed perspective of the world by following along in artist Yayoi Kusama’s dotted footsteps. Opening their doors just a little longer into the evening, M+ has curated a series of creativity focused workshops, art film screenings, and live music performances scattered all around their expansive space. Drawing in art enthusiasts and those simply keen to explore and find new inspirations, there are tons of free activities led by M+ team members, as well as artists that welcome all on a drop-in basis.

6. Daydream Believer

Brought to K11 Musea’s gorgeous biodiversity-inspired Nature Discovery Park, by local sustainable art and fashion incubator Earthero Studio, this unique “Art-isan” collection is a show of hand-painted pieces on deadstock fabrics by young emerging artists. The one-of-a-kind textiles have been dissected into nine squares to form an optical illusion puzzle, that’s sewn on to T-shirts being displayed. Each bespoke item is also on sale, with proceeds going to Hong Kong NGO Green Sense.

7. Day Off in Kyoto

Taking up residency for a night at the Central-located Kakure Japanese Restaurant, local bar star Jade Lau will make her way behind the counter to shake up cocktails showcasing the world’s first Kyoto-made gin, Ki No Bi. The beautiful Ginza-style bar has a series of delightful eats on their ongoing menu that beautifully complement the best of Japanese spirits on hand as well, if you are looking for a drinks-side nibble. 8. Hello Again, Old Man

New year, new me. Aberdeen Street speakeasy The Old Man bids adieu to their old menu to inaugurate their fifth edition of mesmerising cocktails crafted in tribute to literary hero Ernest Hemingway. Themed as “a journey through Hemingway’s five shades, types, and categories,” the selection moves through a feast of flavours, intriguing ingredients, and play of senses in classic Old Man fashion.

9. Nice to Meet RÚ

Along the West end of the New Territories, Nina Hotel is stepping into the Lunar New Year with a brand-new Chinese restaurant taking the helm as the hotel’s flagship dining space. This 11,000-square-foot parlour is led by chef Edmond Ip and peddles an elegant selection of modernised traditional Cantonese dishes. The signature tasting menu (HK$888) best summarises the concept’s ethos with items like Superior Barbecued Pork Glazed with Honey, Braised Chicken Wing stuffed with Bird’s Nest in Truffle Honey, Wok-fried Rice Vermicelli with Crab Meat, alongside an array of six other dishes. There is also an emphasis on the versatile and diverse tastes of tea leaves, reflected by the rare selections expertly prepared by Tea Master Kelvin Ng.

10. Un Bistecca Built for Two

Spanish streetside tapas and paellas cantina MAJO are doubling up on delivering good eats this month with a steak for two with unlimited sides deal. For HK$390 per person, each duo can share a quality 500g Australian cube roll steak served beside a medley of Padrón peppers and baby carrots, drizzled in truffled Pedro Ximenez sauce. A constant rotation of sides is offered through the evening, including a selection of roasted sweet potato glazed with honey and cinnamon, skin on Agria potato fries, sautéed green asparagus served with Ibérico ham, and grilled gem lettuce with mixed nuts in a smoky dressing.
