1. Get Groovy Presents DJ Ryan Murgatroyd at CARBON

Can’t wait for the weekend to arrive? Are you ready for something a little different? Swing by CARBON this Friday to see South African DJ, musician and producer Ryan Murgatroyd grace the decks. Flown in by boutique talent & event agency “Get Groovy”, Ryan has pioneered a fusion of African and electronic elements to forge a new unique sonic sound blending an incredible live performance and DJ set.

2. Totoro Typhoon Presents Electronic Museum Warehouse Party

Electronic Museum, a legendary party series operating in Hong Kong for more than half a decade, lands for its fifth volume on Feb. 24, bringing together massive sounds, visual art shows, and a trancey nine hours of grooving; including tunes from Xiaolin, Annika, Shumking Mansions, and Yunus.

Legendary ravey operators Totoro Typhoon bring to you a one-of-a-kind electronic experience with Supacity in Wong Chung Hang hosting two stages for ten DJs to whip out tech-house and trance tunes, and eight visual artists to complement the wavey night. 3. Afro-Latina Fiesta Madness Jiva Loca at ICHU

Bringing these fiery Afro tunes into warmer weather and new doors, We Love This City hosts Jiva Loca at Peruvian joint ICHU for fiesta of African and Latin dancing, drum performances, rapping, and music.

Legendary Hong Kong DJ Anil Ahuja joins a host of inspiring music marvellers, including DJ duo JC & Danger, Ryan Hanson, rising star on the scene Chili Q, and Hydra, to bring the African heat to your feet.

4. Silent Disco Party at Causeway Bay’s Glitzy Victoria 22

Hong Kong new high-flying event space Victoria 22 is partnering with Silent Disco Asia to bring Silent Disco Party, a quirky night for the gang to plug in to your headsets and jam away to playlists thumping funky tunes.

Guests can don their headsets and tune in to a night of pop n rock melodies on the green channel, EDM songs on the blue channel, and R&B and hip-hop for the red channel as you dance the night away. All types of red and white wine, rosé, beer, and liquor is available to quench your thirst when you cop your tickets to the fun night.

5. Brazilian Festive Carnaval Do Brasil at studio 33

Our turn at the Brazilian Carnaval comes, in the form of a fire-busting night held at Studio 33 for celebrations of Brazilian music, rhythms, drinks, performances and dances. The “Camarote 33” party brings South American vibes straight to SoHo for Saturday’s party.

Lasting deep into the night, the ticket price for the Carnaval includes free flow of caipirinha, mojito and standard drinks, Brazilian snacks to savour, Brazilian performances and free make-up art, samba classes, and workshops to create your own special Abada, carnaval t-shirt. 6. Women in Stand Up Comedy Night at KIN Food Halls

KIN Food Halls in Quarry Bay invites female talent to the comedy stage for the first time in late February with Women in Stand Up, showcasing Hong Kong’s brightest female talent and jokesters.

Catch riffing and crowd work from doctor-slash-funny gal Nicole Tanner, Dannie Aildasani, Cassi FM, Abigail Tsao, and Nina McGrath. One drink is included in the ticket for the two-hour set but the good people at KIN Food Halls recommend you order dinner there too. Get tickets here.

7. The Underground at Rula Live Bring Back Rocking Rulapalooza

Rock connoisseurs The Underground, alongside Lan Kwai Fong’s house of rock Rula Live, bring back the eighth edition of Rulapalooza, a one-night bash for local live music from big names in the Hong Kong band scene.

New band ADD9 brings together a collection of indie rocks for a soothing start to the night, before The Origin bring things up with pop rock, Gravity introduces hard rock and metal, and Radio Resurgence enter the early hours with classic rock’n’roll.

8. Ginsanity Hosts 1980s Free-Flow Gin Pub Quiz

Join Hong Kong’s exclusive gin club Ginsanity for a groovy 1980s-themed quiz and gin sampling night in Sheung Wan. Bringing back all the nostalgia from their favourite era, the quiz will challenge our millennial brains for what movies, music and culture was popular.

TakeOut Comedy’s Jokerz show brings it back-to-back this year with another laughter-inducing night at Hong Kong’s longest running comedy venue with a star-studded cast scientifically designed to make you laugh.

Hosted by Muk Venkataraman and featuring local comedians Steve Lee, Donald B Ma, Garron Chiu, and Kari Gunnarsson, Jokerz is headlined by actor-motivational speaker-comedian Maitreyi Karanth. Don’t forget to buy your tickets for this big one.

10. DJ Heidi Mak Returns this Friday for Vibes Bar Residency

Hong Kong mashup DJ Heidi Mak is set for another resident night at The Mira’s Vibes rooftop bar, playing house, disco and bouncy light techno in the hotel’s cosy space. Heidi will bring in the Saturday night vibes for a three-house set in Kowloon.

Trained classically since a young age in Hong Kong, Heidi broke into the music scene under the stewardship of the late Janette Slack flipping electronic swing and house tracks at FLY Club and Social Room since 2016. She’s also played at Festival du FÉMININ in 2017 and Lez Run the World’ New York in Taiwan.
