The Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong is set to grace the city at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 4-7, highlighting thousands of contemporary and modern artworks from over 60 local and international galleries and exhibitors.
The 9th edition of the art fair is dedicated to promoting local rising art forces in Hong Kong and discovering emerging artists through opportunities to promote affordable art to an engaged public.
Showcasing art pieces from HK$1,000 to HK$100,000, the Affordable Art Fair has been successful in democratising the art market in its fun and approachable format, featuring a diverse range of galleries from Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, the U.K., Australia, and Peru this year.
This year's signature Young Talent Hong Kong programme is set to spotlight the creativity of emerging youth local talented artists, curated by artist Jonathan Jay Lee. Crossing Borders & Remote Participation imports the talent and art from overseas galleries, and Special Projects brings large-scaled installations and art performances to the four-day art event.
"Affordable Art Fair has been showcasing artworks that cater to audiences’ taste and budget and making art accessible to all, with an ethos of transparency, friendliness and art education. We have been active in promoting local art and providing a platform for local art lovers to discover new and emerging Hong Kong artists and their thought- provoking works with new perspectives,” fair director Regina Zhang says.
“Among the 60 participating exhibitors, over 40 of them are from Hong Kong. We also believe art is a unique platform for self-expression, self-discovery and even self-love that every individual deserves to have. This is the very reason and driving force behind our mission to democratise the art world.”
Affordable Art Fair 2022 is set to open on Thursday Aug. 4, from 4 PM to 8 PM, with public opening hours set from Aug. 5-7, with hours ranging from 11 AM to 7 PM. Check daily opening times on their website.
