Freddie Mercury Exhibition on Display at Sotheby’s HK till Jun. 30
Fans of British rock band Queen and legendary Freddie Mercury can get a glimpse at his personal belongings in a free-to-enter exhibition, Freddie Mercury: A World of His Own, at the Sotheby’s Hong Kong Gallery from June 26 to 30.
The exhibition will feature over 20 articles from the legendary singer’s personal collection, most notably the stage crown and cloak worn during the final rendition of God Save The Queen during the band’s last performance at Knebworth Park in 1986.
Other treasures on display include handwritten working drafts for Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are the Champions, a pair of Adidas high top sneakers similar to the ones Mercury wore for Queen’s iconic Live Aid concert in 1985, and contact sheets for the cover photograph of the Queen II album.
The global exhibition tour began in New York, is currently in Los Angeles, and will make its last stop in Hong Kong. The exhibits will then be on view in London from Aug. 4 to Sept. 5, before they go on auction.
