The award-winning design firm, Joyce Wang Studio transformed the interiors of Carna, the contemporary Italian steakhouse by Dario Cecchini. Inspired by the grandeur of Roman architecture and typology, the place embodies a cosy and sophisticated ambiance to diners.

The interior design of the space incorporates symmetrical and geometric elements, with domed arches and a colour palette featuring earthy pinkish-red hues, along with silk chenille patterns, medieval tapestry textiles, and layers of limestone, Roman vein-cut travertine and Amarone burgundy marble. These elements come together to create a modern, yet timeless gathering place suitable for the 21st century.

Located on the 39th level of Mondrian Hong Kong, the restaurant also offers splendid sights of the harbour and is divided into four areas – Sala la Luce, North and South Navata & La Riserva, La Tana, and Bar Luce.

The Sala la Luce welcomes guests with stained glass art inspired by ancient wall frescoes from Roman times to narrate three themes: Tide of Gathering, The Joyful Feast, and Celebrating the Harvest.

The North and South Navata is characterised by custom light fixtures, polished plastered walls, and tapestry upholstery that sets a warm and inviting tone. The place screams elegance as the symmetrical layout and marble floor pattern harmoniously matches each other. Part of the main dining area, the La Riserva has a built-in banquette that replicates a classic bench upholstered in jacquard-weave fabric, domed pendants, and dim lighting – creating a warm atmosphere for guests.

Designed as a secluded retreat, the La Tana features an Aubergine Murano glass chandelier as the centrepiece, stone tabletops with a cross pattern design, crosshatch timber detailing on the walls, and stonewashed chenille curtains that add to the room’s rich aesthetic. Completing the look with custom carpet that echoes the coffered dome ceiling.

The Bar Luce features an undulating series of organ pipework that creates visually striking features. With intricate stained glass arched windows at the back, along with house glassware and spirit bottles, add top-notch charm to the restaurant.
