“Many Bothans died to bring us this information.”

Who knew that this simple eight-word throwaway sentence in the original “Star Wars” films would give birth to an anthology that would draw so far deep into the Star Wars mythology to break new narrative and aesthetic grounds.

Gareth Edward’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” passed the proverbial baton from old to new, allowing us to reimagine the beloved galaxies set far, far, away. Diego Luna told Rotten Tomatoes TV that, “It was a bittersweet feeling you know… knowing that it was just one film, but then magic happens right?”

We’ve witnessed the revival of the Star Wars world before, through numerous animated series from “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, to the cinematic “The Mandalorian” which ignited a Baby Yoda revolution of its own.

Disney Plus is bringing us an exciting "Rogue One" prequel series to be released Wednesday, Sept. 21 in Hong Kong titled: “Andor”.

For fans of the stand-alone “Rogue One” film, the name Andor should come as no surprise. This 12-episode series is part of a larger two-season arc, set to take place in the early days of the rebellion and focuses on everyone’s favourite rebel, Cassian Andor – with Diego Luna reprising his role as the titular character.

This series follows Cassian as he learns that he can make real changes to the galaxy under the corrupt rule of the Empire’s Galactic Emperor. According to official descriptions of the series, it “brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception, and intrigue, where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”

On Sept. 21, the first three episodes will be released simultaneously as a premiere event. After the first three episodes drop, each successive episode will come out on streaming platform Disney+ every Wednesday until the season finale on Nov. 23.

Early footage of the film is already sparking conversation amongst fans, with some making guesses on what the series will be able to accomplish. Structured as a spy-story, it looks like we’ll be seeing how anti-imperial sentiments blended with Andor’s fight for his place in a transitory world, why Cassian didn’t seem to trust Saw in the movie, and how Mon Mothma came to leave the Empire in the former halls of democracy.

Cast members include Forest Whitaker and Genevieve O’Reilly, reprising their respective roles as Saw Gerrara and Mon Mothma, as well as new members playing the friends and foes of Andor’s early rebel days including Adria Arjona, Anton Lesser, Fiona Shaw, Stellan Skarsgård, Faye Marsay, and Denise Gough.

Fans can’t wait to watch this extraordinary team bring the darker days of the rebellion to life and nor should you! Stream “Andor” this week on Disney Plus.
