A melting pot of cultures, Kuala Lumpur is home to some of the best coffee shops in Southeast Asia. From artisanal bistros to specialty roasters, Malaysia’s capital city holds a multitude of cafés for every bean connoisseur — and most of them are Instagram-worthy, too.
Captivating the attention of Malaysian brew lovers, food enthusiasts, and art buffs is Ruma Puteh, a lifestyle space and café all in one. Nestled on the vibrant road of Jalan Kuantan, the museum-like coffee shop boasts mid-century design, quirky furniture, and candy-coloured walls straight out of a Wes Anderson film.
The pandemic-born coffee spot offers an extensive selection of energy-boosting drinks, including Espresso (RM9), Cappuccino (RM13), Long Black (RM13), Hazelnut Latte (RM14), and Chai Latte (RM14). Non-coffee drinkers may opt for fruit juices such as the strong, earthy Strawberry Blackcurrant (RM12) and the refreshing, citrus-flavoured Orange Sunrise (RM12).
For food junkies and those who don’t want to leave without satisfying their cravings, the café has a wide array of Asian and Western fares such as the fishy Nasi Kerabu (RM28.90), the creamy Bugis Laksa (RM25.90), the juicy Chicken Pesto (RM22.90), and the tangy Ceasar Salad (RM22.90).
Desserts like Cendol Puddings (RM16.90), Ketayap French Toast (RM25.90), and Bandung Kreme Caramel (RM16.90) are also available to provide a sweet ending to your dining experience.
Ruma Puteh is open to the public everyday from 9 AM to 8 PM. Walk-ins are allowed, but it’s advisable to book a table in advance to avoid long queues. For reservations, product availability queries, and other concerns, click here.
