Road Tax, Driving Licence Go Digital in Malaysia: A Guide to MyJPJ App

A Guide to My JPJ App

On Feb. 10, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced during a media conference that private vehicles are no longer required to display road tax stickers as the Road Transport Department (JPJ) moves forward with new digital services.

With the introduction of the MyJPJ mobile application, drivers may opt to save a screenshot of their online data and licence instead of bringing the physical copies.

This digitisation initiative exempts vehicles under Section 20 of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), however, as non-Malaysian drivers and vehicle owners or those holding international driving licences are still mandated to bring a physical copy of these documents.

The launch of the MyJPJ app aims to lessen over-the-counter transactions at the transport department as well as avoid cases involving fake licences. The digital road tax is also allowed to be printed on paper.

In the event that a user is unable to download the app, authorities may check on their behalf by using their officer’s device. The driver will not be subject to any penalty or fine. Again, switching to the app is not mandatory, so there’s no need to rip off your road tax stickers.

The MyJPJ app is available to download via the Apple App Store, Google PlayStore, and Huawei App Gallery.

Once you’ve successfully downloaded the app, here are the necessary steps that you have to do:

After signing up, you can now access the homepage, where you can see the JPJeBid, submit complaints, and check your travel violations, if there’s any.

Other details you can access through the app include the driver's license expiration date, latest licence plate number, a search function for the location of JPJ branch offices, JPJeQ, and more.
