Beat the Heat and Feel Refreshed at These Water Parks in Malaysia
We’re already halfway done this month and it’s still scorching hot as if we live in an oven. While air conditioning and eating ice cream can do the trick, summer is best spent taking a dip to cool ourselves down. Good thing the country doesn’t lack destinations where we can do so. Below, we have listed some water parks where you can take the entire family for a splashing bonding time.
Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark
Dubbed as one of the world’s biggest water parks, Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark is home to the first-ever water coaster in the region. It boasts over 20 wet and dry rides and attractions that people of all ages can enjoy.
The water park features five zones: Penawar Falls where beginners can try surfing with its high-energy simulator called the Surf Wall, Penawar River where you can challenge a sudden 24-foot drop and a 55-foot tube slide with The Tempest, Shipwreck Reef where you can enjoy a thrilling roller coaster-like ride plus the splashing fun at Kraken’s Revenge, Kids Ahoy where your toddlers can run around freely at Scallywags and Li’l Warriors’ Hideout, and Tidal Wave Beach where you can catch waves in one of the biggest wave pools in the world.
Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark is open every Wednesday to Monday from 10 AM-6 PM. Get your tickets and passes on their website.
Location: Desaru Coast, No. 4 Jalan Danau, Desaru Coast, 81930 Bandar Penawar, Johor Darul Ta’zim
LEGOLAND Malaysia
LEGOLAND may be a popular family destination for its cool building-block attractions and fancy hotel, but it also boasts its own water park featuring over 20 slides, rides, shows, and water games. To ensure your kids’ safety, though, you’ll need to take note of the height restrictions for each attraction: Joker Soaker and DUPLO Splash Safari (minimum of 91 centimetres); Red Rush, Twin Chaser, and Splash Out (min. 102cm); LEGO Wave Pool, Brick Blaster, Build-A-Raft, LEGO Slide Racers, Splash & Swirl, Tidal Tube, and Wave Rider (min. 107cm); and Build-A-Boat and Imagination Station (no restrictions). Vests are also available for use.
LEGOLAND Water Park is open every Wednesday to Monday from 10 AM-6 PM. Click here to plan your visit and check for ride closures, and here to purchase your tickets.

Sunway Lagoon
Sunway Lagoon is an 88-acre theme park consisting of five adventure zones, including a water park. Beat the heat and go for a spin in the loops of their African Pythons or make a bet with your friends to see who’s the fastest at the Congo Challenge. Don’t forget to also try the 13,000-square-metre Surf Beach, which is one of the world’s largest surf pools, and the Waterplexx 5D for a cinematic multi-sensory experience!
For the main attraction, ride Vuvuzela — the world’s largest vortex water slide — and get ready to be launched from an 11-storey-high tower! You’ll surely enjoy the plunge through the thrilling rapids as you make your way down. Get your tickets on their website.

SplashMania Waterpark
A new kid on the block, SplashMania Waterpark by Gamuda Land opened its doors earlier this year to provide a “nature meets fun” experience featuring 24 water slides and 15 key attractions. If you’re looking for something unique, the Atlantis VR, which is the first VR water slide in Malaysia, should be on your list. If you’re more of a thrill seeker, the 78-metre-long Shaka Waka water slide will provide you with an immersive ride with its customizable LED lighting and sound effects.
