KESUMA & UMa Dance Showcase 2024/2025 Semester 1 invites audiences to experience a spectacular blend of traditional and contemporary dance, presented by the Dance Department, Faculty of Creative Arts, Universiti Malaya. Taking place on Jan. 17 (Friday) and Jan. 18 (Saturday) at 8:30 p.m. at the Experimental Theatre, Universiti Malaya, this showcase highlights the artistry of undergraduates, postgraduates, and alumni.

The KESUMA segment celebrates Southeast Asian cultural heritage with live music accompanying traditional dance repertoires. Audiences will enjoy the elegance of Malay classical and folk dances, including the vibrant rhythms of Zapin Asyik from Singapore, as well as Indonesian favourites like Cek Minah Sayang and Joget Hitam Manis. Each performance intertwines intricate movements with cultural storytelling, offering a deep appreciation of the region's diversity.

The UMa section features six contemporary dance performances that showcase creativity and innovation through bold choreography and dynamic movements. This segment reflects the versatility and talent of Universiti Malaya's dance students, offering a unique contrast to the traditional dances.
