Meet Singer Songwriter Talitha Malaysias Rising RB Artist

The Beat Kuala Lumpur’s Up and Coming is a series where we feature rising talented artists from Malaysia, giving them a platform to share what they’re passionate about and promote the music they (and us too!) would love for the world to hear. Do you want or know someone who wants to be featured? Email us at [email protected] or slide through our DMs on Facebook or Instagram.

"You only live once.”

This is what our latest Up-and-Coming Artist lives by, and this ideal manifests in her music. For her, life is too short to not do what we like, and this has become evident in her passion for creating music that not only speaks to her soul but also resonates with the hearts of her listeners.

Fresh off the release of her third album, The Beat Asia had the chance to speak with Malaysia’s rising R&B and pop artist Talitha. In our exclusive interview, Talitha. talked about her most valued ideals, how she integrates them into her songs, and her message to other aspiring artists wanting to delve into music. Read on to find out why she’s worth watching out for!

Hi, Talitha.! Can you give our readers a bit of an introduction about yourself?

Hi! I’m Talitha. You can call me Tali! Hehe. I’m a singer, songwriter, [and an] explorer.

What pushed you into making music? Any stories you'd like to share about your beginnings as a musician?

You know how some people journal? Music writing is my way of journaling. And being able to share my experiences to remind people [that] they’re not alone, or knowing that my music was able to help people through whatever it is they might be going through, drives me.

What has been your greatest achievement since you started a career in music?

Being able to share my story and help others in the process.

We listened to your recent album, 'Hello, Talitha,' and we love the R&B-pop vibes and your sweet vocals! What is the album all about, and what was the inspiration behind it?

Validating the feeling of being lost and allowing yourself to explore yourself. Life is so short and I [would] rather die knowing that I lived than not, know that I loved than not. Hehe.

We heard that you also write your music and love telling your stories through them. What is your process in making songs and where do you get ideas and inspiration for them?

I’m quite an emotional person and I’m also very expressive with how I feel. So, I’d like to think that my music ideas mostly just flows from that. I do, personally, find it hard to write music that I cannot connect with.

If you're given a chance to collaborate with someone or open a show for them, locally or internationally, who would it be and why?

Oh! I would loooove to open for UMI! Or collaborate with her. ‘Cause I love her writing and would have so much to learn from her.

What are your ultimate goals as a musician?

To be able to tour around the world and share my music with people.

What advice can you give to those who would like to pursue music?

If there’s one thing I learnt, it’s that you can’t please everybody. So, do what you want to do, write what you want to write, sing how you want to sing. Do YOU. There will always be someone out there who wants to listen and love you for you.

What's next for Talitha? Are there any shows or gigs that we can look forward to from you very soon?

I [launched] my album “Hello, Talitha.” [last] Dec. 8, but I’m mostly planning to just write more and release more music throughout 2024.
