The 4th Macao International Queer Film Festival (MIQFF) returns from June 5-27, 2026, bringing its largest program to date with a curated lineup of 24 feature films exploring LGBTQ+ stories, identities, and lived experiences from around the world.

This year’s edition carries the theme “Queertopia!/?,” reflecting on the evolving realities of queer life through cinema that challenges social norms, examines oppression, and celebrates love, freedom, and self-expression. As Macao’s only LGBTQ+-focused film festival, MIQFF continues its mission of fostering dialogue on gender and cultural diversity while creating a platform for queer voices to be seen and heard.

The festival opens with “Cyclone,” directed by Philip Yung, a drama following a transgender sex worker navigating identity, trauma, and survival after leaving Mainland China for Hong Kong. The film previously screened in the Big Screen Competition section at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2026 and served as the closing film of the 2026 Hong Kong International Film Festival.

Alongside screenings, MIQFF also features post-film discussions, talks, and community events throughout Pride Month. Don't miss out!
