Art Macao 2023 Guide: Best Exhibitions and International Artists to Catch

Consisting of six beautiful installations, the Public Art section of the 2023 Art Macao collection showcases a series of visually arresting pieces that can be viewed in selected spaces, accessible to passersby and visitors alike.

At the Art Plaza of Macao Cultural Centre, check out ‘The Alchemical Leap’, depicting a fusion of nature and science in its use of stainless steel, and a vibrant recreation of a tree frog, as well as the South-Korean creation of ‘Halo,’ which uses the movement of motorized glass mirrors to play with wind and water.

Right beside the entryway of the Guia Hill Pedestrian Tunnel stands ‘Mirror #6,’ shines back at the hoi polloi that moves beside it. It plays with depths and layers, not unlike the way the steel truss piece 'Theory of Time' does, from its perch at Mount Fortress Garden.

Make a day out of the visit and check out the Former Iec Long Firecracker Factory while you venture out to become immersed in the LED screen installation of the ‘Macao Pointcloud Garden’ that stands beside the historic attraction.

City Pavilion

Spanning across four exclusive themed projects, the section this year features the multimedia-based Kyoto Pavilion, the London Pavilion with its exploration of Cathedrals through time, the robotics-focused Shenzhen Pavilion, as well as the Vila Nova de Cerveira Pavilion, which ties back to the Art Macao 2023 main theme. Each exhibition presents a distinct perspective that links back to the overarching idea of convergence between symbols and science.
