Legendary Opera Singer Plácido Domingo to Headline 'Galaxy Opera Gala'
A world-class opera experience is coming to Macau this October as resort destination Galaxy Macau is hosting its “Galaxy Opera Gala,” featuring the legendary Spanish tenor, Plácido Domingo.
Happening on Oct. 20, the gala is set to stage a majestic performance by Domingo, along with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, one of China's most celebrated; alongside the Orchestra Milano Classica and the Orchestra Scarlatti Young, Naples’ principal conductor, Beatrice Venezi.
They will be joined by two emerging talents in opera: China-born, Italy-based soprano Bingbing Wang and Italian-German mezzo-soprano Anna-Doris Capitelli.
The gala will treat guests to arias and duets from various popular operas, such as “The Marriage of Figaro,” “Carmen,” “La Traviata,” and “The Merry Widow,” among others. The show will be staged at Galaxy Macau’s state-of-the-art venue, the Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC), a 40,000-square-meter space that can host up to 16,000 guests.
Plácido Domingo is recognized as one of the most influential actors in opera, as he was a member of the famed "Three Tenors" along with legends Luciano Pavarotti and José Carreras. He has also won several accolades in his career, including 12 Grammy Awards, and has played over 150 roles throughout his career.
“Galaxy Opera Gala” is presented by Galaxy Macau and sponsored by its bank partner, ICBC Macau. For tickets, you can purchase via MacauTicket, Cityline, and Damai, with prices ranging from MOP880 to MOP1,680.
