X Tests New Subscription Scheme Not a Bot in PH NZ1

As part of its efforts to “reduce spam, manipulation, and bot activity” on the platform, social media site X (formerly Twitter) announced the test launch of its new subscription scheme in the Philippines and New Zealand.

Called “Not a Bot,” the test program will not be applicable to existing users but only to new users on the web. In the Philippines, those who will be availing of the subscription will need to pay P42.51 per year.

Subscribed users will be able to like, reply to, repost, bookmark, and quote posts from other users. Meanwhile, new users who will be opting out will only be able to read or view posts, follow other accounts, and watch video clips.

“This new program aims to defend against bots and spammers who attempt to manipulate the platform and disrupt the experience of other X users. We look forward to sharing more about the results soon,” the announcement read.

The “Not a Bot” program adds to X’s current subscription schemes, which cost P440–P600 per month for premium users and P2,720–P54,400 per month for verified organizations.
