As a nation shaped by the sea, the Philippines’ maritime story takes center stage at the Museo del Galeón, opening to the public on May 1, 2026.
Located within the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay, the four-level, dome-shaped museum spans around 9,000 square meters and houses four galleries. At its heart is the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade — an expansive trade network that connected Asia, the Americas, and Europe from 1565 to 1815 — reframing the Philippines as an important historic player in global exchange.

Each gallery traces the country’s identity as a seafaring nation, anchoring its narratives in the movement of people, goods, and culture across oceans.
The museum also features a full-size reconstruction of a 17th-century galleon, the Galeón Espiritu Santo, offering a closer look at the vessels that once sailed the open seas and connected the Philippines to the world. Inside, guests can explore the vessel’s interior, with displays of cannons, food, and other interactive features that can be engaged with.
Throughout the 250 years of the galleon trade, about 181 vessels sailed across the Pacific Ocean, with 798 voyages between Manila and Acapulco.

The Museo del Galeón will be open from Wednesdays to Sundays from 10 AM to 7 PM. Tickets will be available soon, priced from P275 (Public school students, Teachers), P375 (Children, Private school students), and P675 (Adults).
