If you’re looking for a budget-friendly hotel in Ortigas, here is our experience (plus verdict!) following a one-night stay at Hop Inn Ortigas Center.

Venue and Neighbourhood

Like its counterparts in Metro Manila, Hop Inn Ortigas Center prime possession is its strategic location. It is steps away from the central business district, making it an ideal option if you need overnight space without breaking the bank. Commuting is also easy with public buses and the MRT as your main options. For the latter, your starting points are the Shaw Boulevard Station (670 meters away) Ortigas Station (815 meters away).

Nursing your cravings in a foodie haven like Ortigas is never a problem, but if you want something quick for your late-night hankering, you can check out the 7-11 convenience store at the foot of the hotel. ATMs are also within walking distance. The closest mall to this budget-friendly hotel in Ortigas is SM Megamall, making it practically close to anything one would ever need to survive in Manila. Alternatively, The Podium, Shangri-La Plaza, and Ayala Malls the 30^th are all less than 500 meters away. The abundance of dining options within the area means there is always a café or restaurant waiting to be uncovered while staying at this hotel.

The Room

Ensconced in one of the busiest business districts in Metro Manila, Hop Inn Ortigas Center does a good job in shielding its property from the outdoor bustle. We stayed at the Triple Room, one of Hop Inn Ortigas Center’s 231 well-appointed rooms. Spanning 24 square meters, this is also the hotel’s largest room, making it a great fit for a barkada or family of four. It is fitted with one large double bed and a single bed, flatscreen TV, ref, safety deposit box, and a clothes rack with a shelf where you can store your luggage. A full-length mirror is fixed on the wall for a last-minute ‘fit check before exploring the city.

There is also a rectangular table if you want to sneak in some work, although we all know you’d be fooling yourself to do that in the middle of a staycation. For those traveling for business, this room is a chef’s kiss.

All rooms come with a private bathroom, appointed with your bathing basics such as a heated shower, hairdryer, toilet, and bidet.

Our sweet spot on the 11th floor opened to the impressive Ortigas skyline contrasted by the ample amount of green spaces covering the San Miguel office complex. Peering out, we could see SM Megamall and the stretch of San Miguel Avenue from our window.

After dusting ourselves off from the outside rush, we immediately sank into our beds, happy to have a quiet little space in the midst of a city that never sleeps.

Amenities and Staff

We came to Hop Inn Ortigas Center following a packed day of errands and were happy to receive warmth from the staff. After providing our booking details and IDs, our check-in was done in under five minutes and we were immediately led to our room. As twenty-somethings who couldn’t take a minute off the grid, we were thrilled to find fast and stable Wi-Fi throughout the property to get us on top of work and play and everything else in between.
