Cetaphil, Watsons on Fostering Healthy Skin Care Habits through the #NHSM

Practicing healthy skin care habits is the epitome of #SelfCare. Although cosmetic products such as make-up can be handy in our daily lives, covering up blemishes we often try to hide, it’s important not to neglect what lies underneath. After all, true beauty reflects one’s overall well-being, and that includes having healthy skin.
But with so many skin care products on the market today, it’s almost impossible to choose which one works best for us. And although it’s recommended, a visit to the dermatologist doesn’t exactly come cheap. What’s a girl or boy gotta do?
Well, ladies and gents. We’re here to tell you that it’s not completely hopeless and that there is one brand in the market that has a solution for you.
Trusted skin authority, Cetaphil, in partnership with Watsons PH and SM Stores just launched the National Healthy Skin Mission (NHSM) Skin Academy for its 7th year last Aug. 5 at the SM Store Makati.

This collaboration aims to enhance skin health awareness and accessibility and to empower individuals to achieve healthy skin through the Skin Academy. For over 75 years, Cetaphil has been committed to advancing skin science and providing the best sensitive skin care solutions. From their line of new products down to their award-winning daily cleansers, the brand has long been trusted by millions around the globe for their comprehensive skin care for even the most sensitive skin types.
As the go-to destination for skin care and beauty products, Watsons partnered with Cetaphil to address skin issues and make products more accessible for Filipinos. Their motto: “LOOK GOOD, DO GOOD, FEEL GREAT” deeply connects with Cetaphil’s commitment to nurturing better skin health for every individual.
“Filipino skin is wonderfully diverse, and we recognize this by offering a wide range of products tailored to different needs,” said Alyssa Reyes, Category Manager for Skincare and Trade Beauty at Watsons. “We [Watsons and SM Beauty] partnered with Cetaphil to bring high-quality skincare solutions to the Filipinos, ensuring everyone has access to the best possible skin.”
Through the NHSM Skin Academy initiative, Cetaphil, Watsons, and SM Beauty are promoting skin health education, allowing consumers to make informed choices and lead better, healthier lives.
“We are not just promoting products but nurturing a movement towards better skin health,” Mark Sarmiento, Business Unit Head at Cetaphil, emphasized.

On the ground floor of SM Makati, you’ll find the NHSM Skin Academy booth glaring white like a beacon answering all your skin health prayers. There you’ll find Cetaphil’s line of products, as well as experiential areas and special offers you can only get at the Skin Academy.
This year’s NHSM emphasizes the 15 Essential Ceramides, a component our skin needs, which was explained to us by Dr. Irene Gaile Robredo-Vitas, a board-certified dermatologist at DermHQ, as we sat with her for a quick consultation.
“Ceramides are part of the outer layer of our skin. It’s what strengthens and maintains our skin barrier. The skin barrier is important for two things: number one, when your skin barrier is intact it keeps moisture locked in. When moisture is locked in, you’re not dry, you don’t get easily irritated, and you become less sensitive.”
“Apart from keeping in moisture, when your ceramides are intact, it also prevents the stressors from the environment like pollution, dirt, and bacteria from getting into the skin.”
Dr. Gaile also highlighted how Cetaphil products are made with gentle ingredients and that most of their skincare products have a blend of Glycerin, Niacinamide (B3), and Panthenol (B5), which help boost ceramide production in our skin, building a healthier skin barrier.
Also at the opening event, Cetaphil Brand Ambassador and Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray, made a special appearance to encourage everyone to visit the booth and start their healthy skin journey with Cetaphil today.
“If you have never tried it before, i-encourage ko kayo (I encourage you) to try it today,” she said. “Because ibang confidence and iba ang way that you’re able to carry yourself (It’s a different kind of confidence and way in which you carry yourself) when you feel that you’re one: not only looking great, but also investing that time and care into yourself.
“Kasi (Because) if you can’t do that, then it’s hard to pour out for other people. So, pour into your own cup first. And one of the ways that we can do that is by prioritizing our self-love through self-care, and of course, skincare is one of the main building blocks for that.”

To further hype up the excitement, Cetaphil’s Senior Brand Manager, Ms. Abe Mationg, gave us a brief rundown of the products on offer, as well as what NHSM Skin Academy has in store for everyone.
Some of the things you should look forward to when you visit the NHSM Skin Academy include:
Wide Range of Cetaphil Products
Apart from the brand’s award-winning Gentle Skin Cleanser for sensitive skin (ICYDK, is on a BUY 2 TAKE 1 deal), Cetaphil also offers their new Daily Facial Cleanser and Moisturizing Lotion, which protects from within skin layers.
“For oily combination skin, and good for daily use so your skin stays hydrated,” said Abe.
If you’re suffering from hyperpigmentation and dark spots, Cetaphil recommends their Bright Healthy Radiance line to improve skin radiance in just four weeks! It’s available as cleansers (Brightness Reveal Creamy and Gentle Renewing), toners, serums, creams, and masks.

For the parents out there, did you know that babies don’t fully develop their skin barriers until they’re two years old? Luckily, Cetaphil has a line of products that help boost babies’ skin essential ceramide production!
From body wash and shampoo to lotions and protective creams, Cetaphil Baby ensures that your little one’s skin remains cleansed and hydrated as they develop. These products are also founded upon the Five-Fold protection: Gentle, Hypoallergenic, Tear-free, Fragrance-free, and Paraben-free, ideal for their delicate skin.

Additionally, the brand is promoting Benzac products to address acne issues and help individuals find their way to clear and healthier skin.
Interactive Experiential Areas
One of the best parts about the NHSM Skin Academy is how interactive it is. Visitors can not only get access to a range of products for purchase but also put these products to the test!
There’s a sink in this zone where you can perform a cleansing test using the new Daily Facial Cleanser, and a Foam test with the Hydrating Foam Cream Cleanser, which now has a new look, but containing the same formula providing the ultimate hydration for your skin.

Not sure what your skin type is? No problem! You can take a Skin Test at the event by simply answering a few short questions.
The Skin Academy also has several lovely salespeople to inform you about the products and assist you along the way!
Switch to Healthy Skin
Once you’ve tried and have been convinced by the wonder Cetaphil products provide for your skin, then it’s time to make a switch to the other side where a healthier, more radiant you awaits!
NHSM Skin Academy encourages you to start your skincare journey with Cetaphil right there and then by offering a FREE Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser in exchange for your old skincare bottles. You can simply #SwapToHealthySkin at the Bottle Swap area.
The NHSM Skin Academy will be open until Sept, 1 at the Ground Floor of SM Makati. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about the ways in which you can achieve healthy, glowing skin that will — in the words of Queen Catriona Gray — “allow you to conquer whatever lies ahead in your day.”
