San Miguel, Ayala, 6 More PH Companies Enter Forbes' Best Employers List

Ever wondered which companies in the Philippines are best to work at? American business magazine Forbes has unveiled its World’s Best Employers List for the year 2023, with eight companies from the country making it onto the roster.

Leading the pack is multinational conglomerate San Miguel Corporation (SMC), nabbing 43rd place in the list. SMC is the only Philippine-based company that entered the top 50, climbing 131 spots up from its 174th ranking last year.

In a press statement, SMC’s president and CEO, Ramon Ang, expressed his gratitude for the recognition. “It’s a great honor to make it to this list of the world’s 700 best employers, along with some of the most recognized and most successful Philippine firms. This just goes to show that Filipinos can compete and run proudly with the very best in the world,” said Ang.

Other companies in the Philippines that made it into the list are banking corporations Security Bank, Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company, and Landbank at 54th, 162nd, and 304th, respectively; Ayala Corporation at 186th place; Alliance Global at 283rd place; LT Group at the 361st spot; and, rounding up the list, SM Investments at 420th.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s Samsung Electronics nabbed the top spot in the global list, followed by tech giant Microsoft, Google parent company Alphabet, and tech manufacturer Apple.

The list was the result of a survey conducted by Forbes with 170,000 employees in over 50 countries. Criteria to determine the rankings include remote working options, benefits, work-life balance, diversity, and talent development, among others.
