LTA: 11 MRT Stations Along Thomson-East Coast Line to Open by End-2022
Eleven new MRT stations along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) are set to open by the end of the year, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
“Hooray! We’ve officially handed over the stations under Thomson-East Coast Line Phase 3 (#TEL3) to SMRT today!” the LTA said in a Facebook post.
“This milestone marks the completion of all civil and structural works, as well as our systems integration and testing activities, for our TEL3 #SGRailStory.”
Over the next few months, SMRT will start its operational tests to prepare the new stations for commuters by the end of this year. Once the TEL3 fully opens, more than 180,000 households will be within a 10-minute walk from a TEL MRT station.
TEL3 will run from Stevens to Gardens by the Bay.
TEL’s first stage (TEL1) opened in Jan. 2020 — just before the COVID-19 pandemic worsened — with three stations: Woodlands North, Woodlands (along with NS9), and Woodlands South. These were followed by a second stage (TE2) in August 2021 with six stations: Springleaf, Lentor, Mayflower, Bright Hill, Upper Thomson, and Caldecott (along with CC17).
