Singapore's Odette Named Best Restaurant in Asia, 14th in World This 2023
Odette, the fine dining restaurant nestled in the National Gallery Singapore, was recently named the Best Restaurant in Asia 2023 at The World's 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony yesterday, June 20. The restaurant also bagged the 14th spot on The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2023, an upgrade from last year's 36th.
Even more, chef and owner Julien Royer was the recipient of the Estrella Damm Chefs' Choice Award 2023.
Odette is inspired and named after Royer's grandmother, who taught him "how the most remarkable dishes can come from the purest ingredients..."
The restaurant follows the principles of modern French cuisine, melded with Royer's experience of living in Asia for years, as seen in dishes like the Kampot pepper-crusted pigeon or Kyoto miso glazed endive. Odette values seasonality, terroir, and artisanal producers when it comes to its cuisine.
Central in Lima, Peru, was crowned The World's Best Restaurant 2023, followed by Disfrutar (Barcelona, Spain), Diverxo (Madrid, Spain), Asador Etxebarri (Atxondo, Basque Country, Spain), and Alchemist (Copenhagen, Denmark).
