Finnish Design House Marimekko to Open First Singapore Store in September

Finnish design house Marimekko has chosen Singapore as the next stop for its Asian expansion, opening its doors by the end of September.

Located at the ION Orchard Mall, the new branch will solidify Singapore’s status as a key market and widen the brand’s presence and positioning on the continent, Marimekko said in a press release. In partnership with one of Thailand’s leading lifestyle retailers, Tanachira, the expansion comes with the launch of Marimekko’s online store in the city-state.

Natacha Defrance, Marimekko's senior vice president of sales, region east, commented on the initiative: “One of the fastest growing markets for us in Asia has been Thailand. We are very happy that our excellent collaboration in scaling up Marimekko’s brand together with Tanachira, our partner in Thailand, will now extend to Singapore,” she said.

The new Marimekko store will take a store-and-café concept to showcase the brand’s unique and vibrant designs on various fashion, household, and personal items.
