Kid-friendly Christmas Activities in Singapore to Enjoy the Holidays

It’s the festive season once again and this year is merrier than ever with us returning to a new normal. Unlike the previous years where you have to squeeze your brain to think of ways to entertain your kids indoors during the year-end holidays, you can now choose an event to take them and the problem is solved. If your kids are itching to get out and finally celebrate Christmas outside, here’s where you can take them!
Ice Magic: The Great Fantasy on Ice

Enter winter wonderland at Singapore's biggest winter-themed pop-up playground to date! If your kids love Disney’s Frozen (who doesn’t), give them this chance to build a snowman like Olaf and make snow angels. This is also a good chance to try winter sports and activities, such as ice curling, bowling, and cycling. For something exciting, slide down through the 70-metre-long snow slope or the 4.5-metre-tall ice slide made by expert sculptors from China.
If you feel like the cold is starting to bother you and your kids, there are pop-up cafés where you can order something warm, such as Chocolate Origin’s Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows (S$12.80) and Wado’s Classic, Spicy, or Cheesy Rosti (starts at S$7.50).
Get your tickets online and choose from three sessions. For discounts, it’s best to get a family bundle.
When: Until Jan. 1, 2023
Where: Bayfront Event Space, 12A Bayfront Avenue
Dino Glow at Changi Festive Village

See the life-sized dinosaurs at Changi Airport Park Connector in a new light (literally) as you walk through a three-kilometre light-up inspired by the illuminating colours of the upcoming American science fiction movie “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
Need to fuel up before you embark on this journey with your young ones? Terminal 2 (the opposite of carpark 2A) has set up food trucks for the first time at the start of the Park Connector, so you don’t have to go far for some grub. Have some local fare, burgers, and freshly churned ice cream, then be on your way.
When: 7 PM-1 AM, until Jan. 31 (Park Connector) / 5 PM-10 PM, until Jan. 1 (food trucks)
Where: Changi Airport Connector, Changi International Airport
Christmas Odyssea at Jewel
Be dazzled by Christmas lights with a touch of underwater-themed elements at Christmas Odyssea at Jewel!
First, take pictures with the 16-metre-tall Prudential Singapore Jewel Christmas Tree at the entrance then head to Shiseido Forest Valley. Find a good spot to enjoy the HSBC Rain Vortex Light & Sound show inspired by “Avatar: The Way of Water” (8:30 PM and 10:30 PM daily) and Christmas shows (7:30 PM and 9:30 PM daily) for free.
Second, experience snowfall at Shiseido Forest Valley every hour from 7:35 PM to 10:35 PM to feel the chill of the festive season even more. Living in a city with only a dry and wet season, your little ones will surely enjoy this experience.
Lastly, if you don’t mind spending a few bucks, get your tickets for the Canopy Park located on the top floor. Here you’ll see an ocean-themed sea of blue, pink, purple, and teal with bioluminescent light displays and dolphins, seals, and manta rays you can interact with through motion sensor screens.
When: Until Jan. 2, 2023
Where: Jewel Changi Airport, Changi International Airport
Gardens by the Bay’s Seasons of Bloom
Visit Gardens by the Bay with your little ones to see flowers bloom in a landscape of snow! Catch the final floral display celebrating the park’s 10th anniversary as it highlights different flowers that the Flower Dome has shown over the past decade, including snapdragons (spring), delphiniums (summer), zinnias (autumn), and cyclamens (winter). In the centre, an eight-metre horticulture-artistry Christmas Tree created with red and white poinsettias to resemble a candy cane is something you wouldn’t miss.
Another highlight to check out is the ice cavern that houses “ikebana” or the traditional art of Japanese floral arrangement in an icicle-like form. In collaboration with Ikebana International Singapore, these floral sculptures will let your kids appreciate the timeless beauty of flowers even in their frozen form.
Get your tickets at Gardens by the Bay’s official website to avoid long lines and possible waiting time.
When: 9 AM to 9 PM, until Jan. 2, 2023
Where: Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay, 18 Marina Gardens Drive
