Singapore Will Soon Have Its First K-Pop International High School
Students from Southeast Asia will soon have the opportunity to learn the curriculum of some of their favourite K-Pop idols, as Singapore will have its first K-Pop International High School.
A collaboration between the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA) and Singapore Raffles Music College (SRMC), the school will be simply called SOPA-SRMC and will offer specialised K-Pop education.
The curriculum will combine Korean and Singaporean educational systems and will be taught in English by faculty members from SOPA’s Education System department. Ryan Goh, the executive director of SRMC, sees the collaboration with SOPA as "a unique opportunity to bring the essence of specialized performing arts education from Korea into Singapore and Southeast Asia."
K-Pop fans are more than familiar with SOPA as it's the alma mater of several famous K-Pop idols, including BTS's Jungkook, Blackpink's Jisoo, and EXO's Sehun and Kai.
As of writing, SOPA-SRMC has not yet revealed the curriculum details or the audition process for enrollment. However, SRMC will manage the admissions process for Koreans who wish to study abroad.
