If there's one event parents and guardians of young children shouldn't miss bringing their tots to this summer, it's got to be the Gallery Children's Biennale.

The biennale has been a key programme of the National Gallery Singapore since 2017, with the mission to "[inspire] young, curious minds with art." Now on its fourth edition, the Gallery Children's Biennale features 11 interactive artworks with the theme, "Let's Make A Better Place." This exhibition spotlights art from various artists in Asia and more to champion core values like care, respect, imagination, and collaboration.

It is an event "for, with, and by children," but this doesn't mean that it's unwelcoming to adults. Grown-ups, too, can enjoy and learn from the artworks at the biennale, which includes both digital and on-site programmes for visitors.

Some of the artists exhibiting in the biennale include Arahmaiani (Indonesia), Chiang Yu Xiang (Singapore), Fadilah Karim (Malaysia), Kumi Yamashita (Japan and United States), the International Museum of Children's Art (Norway), Tawatchai Puntusawadi (Thailand), and more.

The Gallery Children's Biennale opened last May 27 and will run until March 31, 2024, giving families plenty of time to visit the programme.

Be apprised that the biennale features multi-sensory experiences, such as loud sounds, bright colours, and moving lights, and can get crowded during peak hours. All artworks in the venue can be accessed by wheelchair users, except for certain interactives. You can go here to check the biennale's access guide ahead of your visit.

The Gallery Children's Biennale is free to all, and tickets are not required. It is open daily from 10 AM-7 PM.

Location: National Gallery Singapore, 1 St Andrew's Road
