Singapore proves once again that it is one of the world’s best destinations for travellers looking for luxury, as two of the city-state's hotels made it onto The World’s 50 Best Hotels list for 2023.

The two hotels that nabbed the recognition were the British colonial-style luxury hotel Raffles Singapore and the tropical oasis-themed hotel Capella Singapore, which ranked 17th and 28th place, respectively.

They were among the hotels recognised at the list’s awarding ceremony, held on Sept. 19 at the Guildhall in London.

Raffles Singapore is an emblematic hotel in the Lion City, known for its grandiose neo-Renaissance architecture and home to the iconic gin-based cocktail Singapore Sling. The hotel is also popular for its impeccable service by the “fabled” Raffles Butlers.

“We are humbled and excited to have found a place among this esteemed collection of outstanding and beyond the everyday luxury hospitality destinations... We are also honoured to not only be flying the Raffles brand flag high but also proudly representing Singapore on a global stage,” said Christian Westbeld, managing director at Raffles Singapore, on the recognition.

Meanwhile, Capella is known for its wide, lush gardens and tropical surroundings. It also houses the award-winning Auriga Spa and the “Capella Curates” program, which takes the hotel’s guests on tailored tours that showcase the beauty of Singapore.

“This affirmation from well-travelled experts within the hotel and travel industry is testament to the memorable stay experiences and exceptional service that we continuously strive to provide to all our guests. We look forward to welcoming you to create many more cherished memories with us,” said Capella Singapore in a social media post.

Raffles and Capella are joined by Italy’s Passalacqua, which topped the list, as well as other luxury hotels in Asia such as Hong Kong’s Rosewood and The Upper House, Bangkok’s Mandarin Oriental, and Japan’s Aman Tokyo, among others.
