Color Code to be Introduced for Checking Vaccination Records in LeaveHomeSafe

Government officials are to develop a colour code system to classify people’s vaccination records to simplify the process for checking records in restaurants and other public premises, said a catering veteran in an interview yesterday.

Speaking to RTHK on Tuesday, the chairman of the Association for Hong Kong Catering Services Management, Leung Chun-wah, said restaurants and customers are often penalized if law enforcement finds unvaccinated customers dining in.

Restaurants who are seen violating rules will be asked to stop dining-in services after 6 PM, with Leung saying he is concerned about how the venues are checking the vaccination records of customers.

The government is asking the Innovation and Technology Bureau to develop a new system designed to help restaurants check customers’ vaccine records, he said.

"The new system in the LeaveHomeSafe app will use different colours to show whether customers are vaccinated," Leung said.

"There will be a green page after vaccinated customers scan the LeaveHomeSafe QR code. As for unvaccinated people, a red page will pop up after they scan the QR code.”
