Online Booking Service Open to HKers Visiting Mainland China this Sunday
Hong Kong officials have launched an online booking system this week that will allow Hong Kongers and international visitors visiting mainland China, ahead of the opening of borders on Jan. 8, to reserve a spot to cross the border.
Visitors can enter mainland China on land via the Shenzhen Bay, Lok Ma Chau and Man Kam To checkpoints, making an online registration prior to their trip. The daily quota to Lok Ma Chau is 35,000, whilst it is 10,000 at Shenzhen Bay, and 5,000 at Man Kam To.
In its first stage, the online booking system will allow Hong Kongers to reserve entry slots from Jan. 8 to Mar. 4, allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Visitors must enter their ID card number, personal details, and the intended arrival location, before receiving a QR code to enter.
