Victor Shaw's Lifelong Jade Collection on Display at Sotheby's HK Gallery

Sotheby’s Hong Kong is introducing an exceptional collection focusing on jade jewellery amassed by Victor Shaw.

A member of the legendary Shaw family in Hong Kong, Victor Vee Shek Shaw was revered for his discerning eye, enabling a lifelong passion for collecting Chinese art. Shaw spent over five decades meticulously curating this collection, which is a true reflection of his love for jade and his life’s work. Now, the Victor Shaw Collection of Chinese Jades is ready to capture the imagination of art and history enthusiasts alike.

This segment includes jade hairpins, earrings, head ornaments, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, and other wearable adornments that span millennia of Chinese history. From the Neolithic period through the Shang, Zhou, Tang, Song, Ming, and late Qing dynasties.

They document the changes in Chinese clothing and accessories over time and stand testament to the enduring allure of jade jewellery. Despite shifts in fashion over thousands of years, these jade pieces continue to captivate with their timeless elegance and fresh allure.
