What is the LIV Golf Championship?

Making its debut in Hong Kong for the first time, the LIV Golf tournament on the weekend of March 8 is part of the game’s February 2024 season. At each event, two prestigious titles hang in the balance: the Individual Championship and the Team Championship. With 54 players representing 13 teams, this three-day spectacle will unfold as a thrilling 54-hole challenge, offering an astonishing US$20 million individual prize and a remarkable US$5 million team purse.

Team golf takes centre stage, urging you to pick your side and rally behind your chosen heroes as they battle it out on the green. With shotgun starts igniting instant action on every hole, there will be no cuts, meaning a riveting spectacle from start to finish.

This year, 13 teams, each comprising four players, along with two Wild Cards every week, will vie for glory. These Wild Cards aren't just here for the ride – they have the chance to make their mark in the individual standings and potentially secure a coveted spot on a LIV Golf team in the future.

What is there to do at LIV Golf Hong Kong?

A main highlight is an exclusive performance by EDM star Gryffin, scheduled for Saturday afternoon after a rousing start with the second round of plays in the tournament.

Aside from enjoying the exhilarating shotgun-style competition with bated breath, there is also a treasure trove of other activities that are guaranteed to keep all guests entertained – no matter if they are full-blown golf fans or simply casual watchers.

Set against the rolling hills of the Hong Kong Golf Club, the fringes of the tournament grounds will be transformed into the LIV Golf Fan Village, which features food and beverage offerings, golf-themed activities, and live music.

Little ones can get into the sporting spirit at the special kids’ zone, which hosts games and fun activities. Children can even have the chance to get a turn on the clubs by checking out the LIV Golf Little Golfers: Swing, Learn, Play! station, where they can be matched with coaches in an immersive technological environment.

Adults can also get swinging at the Precision Putting area, where putters can come head-to-head to test their accuracy and try to outdo one another in speed, aiming to shoot their golf balls into one of the nine cups along a ramp.

Those keen to branch out into other athletic challenges can pay a visit to the Basketball 60-Second Showdown to try and beat the clock (and an opponent) in scoring as many hoops as possible before the stopwatch runs out. Or they could show off their rugby ball passing skills in the Rugby Perfect Pass Challenge where speed and precision are key.

For a pre-tournament experience, the LIV Golf Pro-Am provides the opportunity for golf enthusiasts and amateur golfing athletes to get a close-up experience with one pro from the front nine and another pro on the back nine. Players must be at least 16 years of age to be admitted with a Pro-Am ticket.

The ticketing for LIV Golf Hong Kong across the tournament has been split into five main tiers. The Grounds Pass places guests right in the centre of the action and comes with access to the Fan Village. The Birdie Shack is sectioned in the 6th and 10th greens viewing areas and comes with access to the activities as well as complimentary beverages.

The next level, the Gallery Club, provides sweeping views of the 13th and 17th greens, with unlimited free flow and light bites. The experience can be upgraded to the semi-private Skyboxes over the Gallery Club, which includes a dedicated bar and waitstaff service.

For a truly private experience, the Club 54 tier offers access to the members-only luxury lounge that overlooks the 18th hole, with an all-inclusive menu cooked fresh from the kitchen, and a fully open bar. Get the group together for a memorable time at the Private Chalet on 18, which offers the above but in a premium setting that’s set for reserved parties only.

Finally, passes under the LIV Premium All-Access Hospitality tier are the ultimate level on the list, offering an all-inclusive experience that lets you traverse through all the above spaces (except Skyboxes).

How to get to LIV Golf Hong Kong

By Taxi: The Club is about 1 kilometre of a drive from the Tolo Highway, the address is - Lot No. 1 Fan Kam Road, Sheung Shui.

By Bus: Bus lines that stop at the Hong Kong Golf Club include 273A (KMB), 57K (Green minibus), and 77K (KMB).

By MTR: Take Exit B1 of Sheung Shui station. Head along Pak Wo Road and turn on Po Kin Road, continuing down until you reach Fan Kam Road. The Hong Kong Golf Club will be towards the right, with the club crest displayed beside the entrance. Cross the street and enter.
